If your Windows 10 PC suddenly feels slow, Microsoft wants to hear from you
For a month, some Windows 10 users have been complaining about degraded performance after applying a specific update, which has finally caught Microsoft's attention. This is good news. The bad news is that Microsoft really needs more people to find out what's going on.
A moderator at Microsoft Community Forums (via Windows Latest) wrote, "I spoke with Missy Quarry from the Edge team and they are looking into the issue.
This issue is related to KB4559309, which replaces the older version of the Edge with the later version built around Chrome, the same built-in code that powers Google's own Chrome browser.
Something in the update is clearly confusing some Windows 10 PCs. One user noted that after installing the update, their PC became "inseparably slow", with complaints ranging from longer boot time to games to lower frame rates.
Usually in these types of situations, uninstalling a problematic update when fixing Microsoft hammers is the best option. However, KB4559309 is permanently attached to the PC and cannot be removed, the system is not running.
If you are unable to apply the update at this time, one way to resolve the issue is to download the updated Edge Browser and install it manually. If you go that route, the Windows 10 update will be problematic.
On the other hand, if it's too late and your PC is slower than normal, Microsoft wants to hear from you. You can submit a bug report by going to Start> Feedback Center, then click on 'Report Issue' and follow the prompts.
