For interested participants, IIT Kharagpur is organising a
one-day free online programme called Application of Data Science in Biological
Systems. IIT Kharagpur and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory have teamed up
for a workshop sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development's
Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) initiative.
The organisations' goals are to address the scientific issues and breakthrough
technologies that are driving current biomedical and bioenergy research trends.

Academicians, research institutes, undergraduate and
post-graduate students, faculty members, specialists, and industry people
working in the relevant oe linked discipline can participate in the workshop. A
maximum of 50 people will be able to attend the session, and the list of those
who have been selected will be sent to their personal e-mail addresses. The
workshop's goal is to cover latest research efforts from across the world
through talks by academics and researchers from IIT Kharagpur, Lawrence
Berkeley National Laboratories, and the University of Michigan.
What Will Be Covered at the IIT Kharagpur Data Science Workshop?
This one-day session intends to give attendees a bird's eye
view of contemporary data science tool development and uses in metabolic
engineering and biomedical methods. Participants will also gain knowledge of
cutting-edge data-driven technologies, their applications, associated problems,
and prospective future horizons in the field of biological system design and
the creation of reliable cell factories. The following are some of the themes
that will be discussed:
·
For metabolic engineering, machine learning is
used.
·
Clinical and health applications that use deep
learning
·
Transparent artificial intelligence for drug
development and repurpose.
·
Protein engineering with machine learning
·
Using genomescale models to analyse multi-omics
data.
Applicants must apply online by September 7th, 2021. The
workshop is scheduled for September 8, 2021, and interested applicants should
review the course booklet for further details.
