WINDOWS 10 users are being warned that some popular laptops are loaded with scary death screen after downloading the latest Microsoft update.

There is a new Windows 10 warning this week and ignoring it could leave your PC in the grip of a horrible death screen. A new warning has been issued by the Lenovo team who, after installing the August 2020 compiling update for Windows 10 Version 2004, some ThinkPad laptops are being made.

See:

In a post on the Lenovo support page he says "after installing the August 2020 compiling update for Windows 10 Version 2004, users can see one or more of the following features: Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) when downloaded • Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) where launches Lenovo Vantage • Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) when using Windows Defender Scan • Unable to sign in with Face with Windows Hello • Device Manager errors related to Intel Management Engine • IR Device Manager errors Camera.

If you own ThinkPad and find yourself looking at a blue screen instead of your desktop and standard files it seems to be working.

Lenovo says anyone experiencing this problem should disable Enhanced Windows Biometric Security settings in the BIOS Setup via security and Virtualization menus.

One way to avoid this nightmare is to wait until after release from Microsoft before attempting to download the August 2020 collection.

According to Windows Latest, it is not just ThinkPad users affected by this new glitch and non-Lenovo users who are complaining about Reddit and Microsoft forums. Speaking to Reddit, a Windows 10 fan said, "I went from a completely good, brand new computer, to a much more busted one than an old PC that I replaced, literally at night."

While another user added, "I don't have a good time in 2004. Is there an easy way to go back to the previous version without that 10-day window without trying to search for new windows?"

These latest issues come as Microsoft may eventually realize that its updates are causing too many problems for users, in fact it appears that the US company can change two major updates each year to one.

According to a blog post by Windows Latest, the Redmond-based company is looking to shake up a Windows 10 update schedule after the release of this fall episode this year. It was thought that following this major release Windows 10 update will arrive in the first half of 2021.

But this release has been delayed due to Windows 10X, a new Windows 10 system for dual-screen devices, and access to help. This new version of Windows 10 will now be released in April or May next year, when the launch of Windows 10 April or May 2021 Updates are delayed.

And sources told Windows Latest that Microsoft may choose to switch to a single, annual release program for their Windows 10 updates from next year.
