Microsoft Edge has just unveiled these amazing new features to beat Chrome

Microsoft Edge 85 packs some great features that can tempt Google Chrome users who want to change their browsers.

The Microsoft Edge browser is gaining popularity, reaching second place in the desktop market behind Google Chrome only. Both Chrome and Edge are based on the Chromium browser engine, so there are some similarities to intelligence, but many users want to avoid Google services altogether to protect their security and privacy.

Edge has been releasing new features like crazy over the past few months, and has now just added a lot of capabilities to the Edge 85, which you can start using from now on. Many of these are addressed to people who work from home during the coronavirus epidemic, as well as education as many schools run online. Now what's new?

Development of Edge collections

The Microsoft Edge Collection feature - which lets you collect, share and organize content you find across the web - is very popular, and is now fully functional.

This happens with a feature called "Collections that send to OneNote" that does what we say: You can send your Edge collections to One Note and Word and Excel.

Collections are now available on iOS and Android that allow you to sync across all your devices, Microsoft said on the blog.

New Edge business features, child safety and education

There are some important business issues too - Edge 85 also adds the ability to sync browser preferences and settings between Active Directory profiles within your area without the need for cloud synchronization. Group policy support has been added which allows administrators to add trusted site + and app combos to be implemented without verification confirmation.

In the meantime, Edge adds features that help keep your kids safe as they browse the internet with its newly launched family safety program. You can now find activity reports on sites your children visit and search terms they visit, and you can control the content your children see. InPrivate browsing is also restricted to Edge to ensure your children stay safe.

Among other things, Microsoft Edge built-in PDF reader adds support for screen highlighting and reading - perfect for students and anyone working from home.

Edge also recently added privacy controls, performance improvements to collections and the Read Aloud feature to PDFs. Another effective feature is already down to Edge 84 - the ability to handle notifications from sites. A great way to combat those annoying pop-ups.

Edge Browser experiment: Chrome variant

If you are already using Edge, this update should arrive within days to come. If you are using another browser like Chrome, and you want a change or want something more secure and private, you can try Edge.

Microsoft's Edge Browser doesn't focus on privacy like Firefox, but has the advantage of being like Chrome, without interruption. Edge also has some business-focused features that will equally add to those who work from home.
